Re: Imported Caravans.
I have been in Contact with Trevor from Sussex in England and he has kindly emailed some original sales brochures of some English caravan manufactures from about 1945.

This camper brought all the comforts of home with it, making a good afternoon a great one. This 1921 prototype lead Curtiss to design the Aerocar.

Re: Overseas Caravans.
I found this item in Motor Manual, May 1951 which says the Victorian Government was importing Streamlite Sprite caravans ckd from England for local assembly. It seems a bit odd when the van industry here was going gang busters. And, on the same page was an item about caravan numbers which stated that a Melbourne manufacturer had allocated half its production for Government orders and that 75 vans had been ordered by the Victorian Public Works Department. Maybe there was too much demand to be filled locally??
Wonder if any have survived and what confusion they might cause vintage vanners?

Re: Overseas Caravans.
I found this 1950 article on a New Zealand built Tanner Caravan. Iam not sure why but the article was in an Australian magazine, I dont think these vans were imported, so why it was they printed an article about them remains a mystery.
