I am a little new to this forum, and this is the first time for me adding a couple of photos. However, the following link takes you to an advertisement for a Jomi Wohnwagen very similar to my 1960 Jomi caravan, Gertie: http://www.oldiecaravan.de/Hersteller_A ... /jomi.html

I haven't been able to locate any other similar German vans in Australia, and she is definately an import with her barn style door on the 'wrong' side. I would be interested to find out if anyone on this forum is aware of these caravans coming into the country....or perhaps she was indeed a much loved member of an immigrating family!

Anyway, she is in a very bad state of repair externally so restoration work continues.....

Hi Gertie

Welcome to the Forum with your very unusual van. As you suggest it might be the only one in Australia given it's origin. Hopefully someone may know of another or have some information for you.

The only other older German van I've seen is this Tabbert, which seems to be similar in styling.

It was at a Vintage Caravan gathering at Tathra on the south coast a while back, and as I recall it was a local van and a private import which had been let go to the verge of ruin before being saved and restored.

Good luck with the project.

Oh wow George...that is gorgeous and looks like it has been immaculately restored. It is very similar to Gertie isn't it? Perhaps Tabbert and Jomi had some connection somewhere. I was told that Eriba took over Jomi.
Thanks for posting the pic.......it gives me inspiration to soldier on!
