Made my day when out on deliveries ,I came around a corner to find this amazing BIG van parked out the front of the Peppin heritage Centre (the local museum)had a good talk with the owner who told me that he had the van custom built by Carapark in Newcastle in 1962 ,he lived in Tasmania at the time so when it was finished he towed it back to Tassie behind his 1958 Star Model Customline, one hell of a trip I am certain.
He has towed the ZESTLINE all over Australia in his vocation as a Visitation & care minister .
He now lives in Port Macquarie & has said this is the last big trip that the van will be making .
All in all an amazing piece of our touring history.
My photography skills are'nt great but I think these will do ,it was a bit of a rush as when i caught up with them they were about to leave ,but kindly they waited for me to get my camera.
The real shame is that they were in town for a few days & I did not know!

I will post photos as soon as I can figure out how to resize them as it keeps telling me it is too big in file size??
Re: 38 Footer Carapark Custom Built 1962
Hi Steve.
I just went looking for the free image resizer that I use, but found that it is no longer available. If you cant find an image resizer email the picture to me and Ill do it for you. I can even post the photo as well.
Cheers.

Hi Richard and Steve,
I am surmising that the caravan Steve saw is the same as the one pictured in Caravan World a while back:
(source: Taken from Caravan World magazine, July 2007, p. 77-78.)
It's a ripper isn't it?
I'm looking forward to seeing Steve's pics, which will no doubt be clearer...
By the was if you're looking for a photo re-sizer, try the VSO Image Resizer 4. It has worked well for me. I see it's recently changed its name, but if you Google it you'll find it. The version I have was free, and I presume they still have a freeware version available. For what it's worth.

Hi Steve.
That is one huge caravan, did you see waht they were using to tow it with ?
Love your 27 ft Carapark and they are quite rare these days. Do you have any other photos and maybe some photos of the inside.
Cheers.

Certainly got my attention, they were towing it with a turbo diesel landcruiser wagon.
It was in such good nick for its age .
