I dont have a real lot of information on these type of campers but these are probably the earliest ads for them that I have.

1957 vintage caravan article on the Cara-ute built by Mr A. W. Griffiths of Sydney. It looks to be an early slide on type unit, although it is a little different to most as it has front supports and the inside of the ute well is not lined.
