Hi Richard,

I noted the cover 1964 version of Winser's "On The Trail" you posted a while ago. Is it an update of the mid-50's version or does it have new material in it?

Hi Don.
Not quite sure about the other editions of "On the Trail" as this is the only one I have, but I would assume that it would be just an updated version. Its pritty much the same with a lot of the other annual magazines that were produced.

It would be interesting to compare the two editions, so maybe I should scan the table of contents and send it to you? The mid-50's edition had a lot of photos which I am sure date back to the 40's judging by the cars and caravans in them. I am guessing that the photos at least would have had to be updated for the 60's edition or the book would look very dated. The 50's book contains lists of caravan parks - as I assume the 60's edition does also - so surely that has been updated?

I'll send you a PM with the table of contents sometime later this week and we can compare notes...

In a post a couple of weeks ago I raised the question about the differences between the '56 and the '64 editions of Winser's On the Trail. I intended to PM Richard a copy of the table of contents from the '56 edition and let him compare it with the '64 edition, but then I thought that other people might possibly be interested in knowing whether Winser updated On the Trail over the years or not, so decided I would post the table of contents. Perhaps Richard can post the table of contents from the '64 edition and we can then compare the two. Of course the table of contents may be much the same but Winser may have added to or updated the various sections - from the cover of Richard's book I am sure that the list of caravan parks has been updated. But first things first:

I have been readint through On the Trail, and I have discovered that I have a 1956 copy that has a 1964 cover. So that would explain why the 2 indexes are identical. Maybe another forum member has a later copy that we could compare.
