Hi Richard
This review and specification for Romany from Dec 1948 gives pretty detailed information if you managed to find one on your Tasmanian trip
Any idea when they started building vans
18 years testing seems a bit excessive
if you weren't building some along the way or maybe they just travelled in other makes until coming up with a design.

Here's some more about Romany vans from Tasmania. Two smaller vans were also available, the 'Romany Minor' on the Morrie would make a nice outfit if you could fine one.
Mr. Abbott it seems was into vehicle hiring as well as the advert shows and located at 276 Georgetown Road, Launceston.
The information is from Motor Manual's Year Book No. 3 -1950.
