A 1961 advert for the Superb De Luxe from NRMA Open Road. George

Not quite the "De Luxe" version show above in Griffins post but they are quite rare now and this would be the 5th Caravan Park "all steel" Superb that I have come across.

1963 Leisureliner by Carapark recently advertised on the internet for sale.

The third post on the first page of this thread is an item from Motor Manual, Sept., 1955 about building your own van from kits. The centre pages of the same issue had a copy of the blueprint for the Carapark 'Homemaker' featured in the article which I thought might be of interest. The old blueprint brings back fond memories of my ten years in a drawing office. Wish I had a dollar now for every blueprint I put through the light box and ammonia.

I was recently given some old NRMA road maps and for those familiar with them they covered areas of the State rather than the entirety.
There was information and advertising on the back of them.
This rather interesting photo appeared on one from 1972 for the North West area. It appears to be a Carapark with an abundance of porthole windows. Might there be bunk beds at the front? It is also odd the way the wheels appear to be totally below the body of the van which would give plenty of floor space and a high centre of gravity.

The photo appears to be from 10 years prior to the publication date from the Holdens, and personally I'm not too fussed about the site. What about that bloody great gum tree in the background with the root ball totally exposed. Wonder what's keeping it upright and what sort of a flood exposed it.

Hi George.
Your right about the camping spot looks a bit dodge to me.
Iam pretty sure the Carapark in the photo is a "workers" van with the body riding high like that. Also if you have a look at the back of the van it looks as though it has a rack/bumper bar on the back which could be used for carrying drums etc.

An interesting late 1950's early 1960's post card from the Mermaid Beach caravan park.

What is interesting about it is that it is the Carapark Mermaid Beach caravan park as shown in the last picture.

A little Carapark 10/9 that I found on a farm west of Scone more than 20 years ago. At the time it was in pretty good condition with the interior being complete, unfortunately at the time I thought it looked a bit ugly, but I now know better.

I think your first assessment was spot on, so ugly only a mother could love them! I dont' think I could ever come at one no matter how much time passes, but to each his own. It's just as well there are lots who love them, they deserve to be preserved and used just like many of the cars a majority may think are not worth the time and effort.
