Which is the right size tyres for these 16" rims, one tyre is a 6.00x16 and the other is a 5.50x16 ????

Hi S4J
I'm no tyre expert, but I should think the 6.00 size would be the better option, if the two wheels in the last photo are the ones you can see the difference in the diameter. I put 6.50 x 16 light truck tyres on my bondwood to replace 6.75 which were no longer available, but the diameter was the same. Do you have any old advertising or specs that specify a size? Your van would be a lot lighter than mine so check the load rating of whatever you choose with your supplier.
I recently replaced the 13" conventional light truck tyres on my Olympic too, but the new ones are radial and have a diameter nearly 3" smaller!
As for your wheels, I'm with Richard in that they are probably specific to the caravan industry as this advert from a 1952 Carapark Catalogue shows, your backing plates are the same as the drop axle illustrated. I have similar ones and the bolt pattern matches Chevrolet.
And, your stove seems to be in the catalogue too.

Hi S4J
I have a near identical axle and drum brakes that came of an old home built caravan, later on if you need parts let me know and Ill check for you. Oh, are the bearings roller ( balls) or tapered bearings.
Cheers.
Richard.

Well shed reached 43 degrees in Kempsey this morning all ready so it’s off for a swim, interesting color combo on he rear of the Hunter Junior looks like Blue with a white V stripe and yes a bit of wood rot as well.
