Here is an interesting snippet from Motor Manual, July 1961 with information that Carapark had acquired Gypsy Caravans so I guess they went down the gurgler with Carapark too. Did the new aluminium Gypsy make it into production beforehand? I've added this post to Carapark too. George

This is a 1948 item from Modern Motor about the 13ft Gypsy. Weight is given as 14cwt so the big 'yank tank' was a bit of overkill it seems. George

This is another one of our finds on Reddo's Blackheath weekend.

You would have thought for a cover shot they could have straightend the Gypsy badge.

I notice none of the pictures of their vans shows this type of signage on the front, maybe it was just one stuck on with a bit of spit to get the name in the photo.

I had a visit from a friend today who is an chronic 'swap meet' goer, which is to my advantage as I don't go to that many. He presented me with this little treasure today picked up at the Central Coast Swap meet (something Reddo missed), he found it in the bottom of a tool box full of bits and pieces and it is in excellent condition.
I should think the phone number dates it to the 1950s or early 60s.

Makes me wonder what other little promo bits and pieces are about from caravan makers of the past. I just need an appropriate caravan to go with it now!

Hi guys
Just joined up but have been looking for a while. After much searching I think my old van is a Gypsy 12 and the CTIA plate says 2629 and from where you said the chassis number was it's 777. Not sure of the year I guess early 50's. It's a lot of work but it will happen, it won't happen overnight but it will happen, I live in Forbes so the motor museum should come in handy. Anyway thanking you

Great to hear from you. Linda and I were actually in Forbes earlier this year and went to the Motor Museum.
