Some advertising from 1938 featuring caravans. It seems by 1938 it was all starting to happen in Australia for caravanning with lots of new companies popping up and more and more mention of caravans in advertising for a variety of products.
And finally, an advertisement for Solvol which was published in major newspapers across the length and breadth of Australia leading up to Christmas 1938 with a little mention of the product being useful to caravanners. It was a product that was always found in our house with Dad working with heavy machinery, the little red packs and grey soap blocks were always in the laundry and bathroom. George
A nice 'Don' style van in this advert, I didn't note the source or date, but it was 1938. Petrol companies certainly took on board the benefits of appealing to those who towed caravans.
This one features an actual van, and for once the detail is quite clear. It's a Romany Road caravan, identified from an advertisement for the brand using the same outfit photographed from the other side. It was only by accident I ran across this one and it may have been running earlier. And finally, an advertisement for Solvol which was published in major newspapers across the length and breadth of Australia leading up to Christmas 1938 with a little mention of the product being useful to caravanners.
