The Don Caravan Factory at 609-615 Neerim Road, Oakleigh, Victoria.

A bit of an insight to how the "production" line operated. It is interesting that the bodies were built on blocks and the springs and axles were added later.

Don Caravan Inovations.

A few of the inovations started by Don caravans were the very unusual coupling. which is a captured ball that is then bolted to the cars tow bar. Also the wind up jockey wheel.

The 140 model Don also has a very useful Gun Cabinet, and the 140 and 120 models also have a wash basin fixed to the door of a cupboard.

The Don patented folding step.

I just love this 1950 Don Caravan ad, very simple but effective.

1952 advert for Don, lists the 'innovative' features, some of which are photographically illustrated in a post above.

We recently picked up a little 10 ft Don caravan, and were given a Herald Touring Club Log that had the recorded history of the car and caravan.

Iam not sure of the year of the Log but it is the Silver Anniversary Souvenir copy.
