Skyline Fibreglass Caravans.

Post by Richard »

Skyline Fibreglass Caravans.
407 Hawthorn Rd. Caulfield Victoria. and later
Auto Assemblers. 44 Moorabool St. Geelong Victoria.

See also Skyline Caravans

There is not alot known about the fibreglass caravans built by Auto Assemblers, but the vans are made from a 1958-59 Sunliner mould. There doesnt seem to be any differences between these vans and the Sunliner of that age, but it is thought that as Sunliner up dated there models they sold off the old model moulds.

Another piece to the Skyline Fibreglass Caravan puzzel is this late 1959 ad for a Skyline Caravan. it is interesting to note that at hte end it mentions that this Sunliner sells for . And that it looks well in lustrous Pale Green.

This fibreglass Skyline caravan ( or re badged Kennedy Caravan) was recently advertised on ebay with the following sellers comment.

Up For Sale is a 1957 Skyline Caravan made in Melbourne back in the Day, This caravan has only had 2 owners and has hardly been used there is a story behind it. Totally original even has the original number plate when it was first registered in 1957, even the cook top has hardly been used...

Not sure about the year of 1957 as it doesnt really match up with my build dates, but I could be wrong. It looks to be a very nice original van.

A very rare 1963 vintage caravan ad for Skyline Caravans.
The heading states "The beautiful new" which you would assume that this is "new" to the Skyline range for 1962, 63
