Propert info?
Propert info?
Hi, I am thinking of getting a Propert folding van and wanted to know what to look out for. From what I have read so far they seem to suit our needs. It would be a good stable mate for our Cargill. Any info or advice would be good.
Re: Propert info?
I have this one on my watch list, it's come on a bit soon for me. While I am building my toy money back up I was hoping to learn more about them. I don't mind a project as long as its complete.

Hi 666
A Popert now? You really do have the vintage caravan bug .
Probably the biggest problem with a Propert is the outer shell, as it has coped most of the weather over time it will either be rotten or have rotten sections. This in turn can cause problems with the opening of the van, it will either jamb or in some instances will not open at all and usually causes the steel straps of the opening mechanism on the sides to bend.
Other than that they are a very simple little van consisting of a heap of plywood and some hinges placed in strategic places.
Cheers.

Re: Propert info?
I will have the Cargill ready in 2 or 3 weeks and wouldn't mind a project. The propert is light to tow and would be good in iffy weather.
Re: Propert info?
On the Cargill rego papers there is a minimum weight for the towing vehicle without brakes, does anyone know what it is for a propert?

Re: Propert info?
Good to see it saved, it looks like the inner pieces were ok. It would have been a gentle trip home. I wouldn't mind something like that myself. The one on ebay is good but moneys a bit tight for that one.
