1940's and 1950's Lino Patterns.

Found some old catalogues with lino Patterns from the 40's to the 50's.

Hi Richard..
Just looking at those lino options and patterns. Wouldnt it be nice to be able to just walk into a carpet shop nowadays and order stuff like that for our vans

I find Lino is one of the hardest materials to source when restoring a van.
There is a lot of vans out there with black and white chequered lino which is sort of period for the 50s and 60s but how many houses and vans where done in that pattern.
Sure there was alot of shops and cafes' with it in ... maybe a few barber shops... but i dont remember seeing it in vans or houses.

Not knocking it.... just stating what i have seen as being prevailent in old van make overs etc.

too right Reddo .....it is one of the hardest materials to source, and when you are lucky enough to find some old lino, it's usually too brittle to use anyway

I was wrapped several years ago when the late Trevor Roberts, who was a carpet layer, gave me this roll of old floral patterned lino he removed from a 1950's in is hometown of Bridgetown WA.

I've used it on one project, and are about to use it on another ....its brittle, but with alot of care, can be used:

Have heard from different sources that lino contains asbestos..

I have used green carpet in one of my vans... like the stuff they use on boat floors .
I have never been happy with it as it is hard to sweep out. seriously considering ripping it out and either sanding the original ply floor or... cover the floor with 3 ply and sand / clear estapol lacquer it .
Would need redoing every so often but would not wear any worse than lino.
