Carapark Caravans.

Another Carapark advertisement, this one for the all metal "Hunter Special" from Modern Motor, 1 May, 1955. Among the list of inclusions was a loughboy, can't remember the last time I heard that term used, its even upsetting the spell check

It certainly looks a masterpiece in the photo and was very well appointed, unfortunately it is not a style that appeals to me but there are plenty to whom it does.

An advertisement from Modern Motor, Aug., 1953 with an interesting promotion for the N.S.W. north west town of Moree, with reasons to go and holiday there in your caravan, preferably a Carapark. I'm sure Moree residents were happy for the free plug, I wonder if Caravan Park ever published advertisements promoting other towns?

1965 Carapark photo. Its interesting that this van has a rear door, (or a door towards the rear).

'Loughboy' - now that`s an odd one.Can`t find anything other than place names for that.Was the writer trying to start a new trend in combining 'lounge/lowboy'? And we think todays spelling is strange.

It might be appropriate that this Caravan Park advertisement from the N.R.M.A. Open Road 8 Feb, 1940, for their 10 foot 'Mobile Home' is posted under the fantastic big 23 foot Zestline Mobile Home (funny name, wonder how they came up with it) as it shows what a difference 22 years made in the caravan world in what was termed a mobile home.
I found this little advertisement particularly interesting when you read it all, a lot of inclusions for a little van, but in particular the fact that it has a "Metal panelled body, steel cross members and chassis towing bar", and brakes. The shape of the paint flash is different too and was a 'fadeless finish'. All in all an odd little van, but interesting too that they were still advertising after the start of WWII, and one could imagine for that reason if nothing else not too many were ever built.

Iam sure most people have seen this mid 1950’s photo of the Carapark caravan used by 2GB as a mobile broadcast studio, but this is the first time I have seen a photo of the 32 foot Carapark caravan used by the Army as a mobile recruiting office.
