Hi George and Richard.
Dad has always told me that 1 cwt was equal to 50 kg, but before I posted this I did a quick check on google and it works out that 1 cwt is equal to 50.8 kg.
So on a 22 cwt caravan I work out the weight to be 1117.6 kg.
And when estimating a rough weight of a caravan I use 1 cwt per foot of caravan, give or take a bit.

It is interesting that the vans are still available in canvas covered plywood or for the "metal minded client" 19 gauge aluminium sheeting.
