J. G. Murphy Collapsible Bungalow Trailer - 1939

Post by griffin »

J. G. Murphy
117 Wellington Street
Waterloo
Sydney

This advertisement from the 1939-40 "NRMA Motor Camping Guide" indicates Mr. Murphy had been in business for 16 years although so far I've not been able to trace any other advertisements from the newspapers. He advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald on April 29, 1939 in a few lines under Caravans and Trailers section but no other information given.

It's hard to imagine such a vehicle would have been "as comfortable as your own home" as stated in the advertising.

The banner across the bottom spells 'collapsible' incorrectly.

The Motor Camping Guide has nothing further advertising for caravans, it is mainly a list of camping sites, details of fish sizes etc.

An advert for J.G.M. from NRMA "Open Road" in March 1939 which shows a regular caravan being towed.
