1940’s Caravans

In the 30’s caravan manufacture was really in its infancy with a lot of back yard caravans being built to supply the very limited demand of the caravan purchaser.

Then in the 40’s with the increased use of the motor car and the demand for more leisure time people turned to caravanning as a cheap form of holidaying and back then Motels were fairly scarce in smaller towns.

Towards the end of the 40’s there was about 25 recognised caravan manufactures in Australia.
