Daisy

I purchased Daisy in 1993 from Urunga in NSW from the original owner so I was told. As you can see in the photos it was painted outside in brown and blue with an air conditioner in the front. After bringing the van home it was completely stripped and the airconditioner removed. I rebuilt the front of the van and it was completely repainted.

This is an unusual van as it has a tubular steel chassis with cross braces and the cladding is 3/8 marine ply which is the outside and inside lining, which has very little in the way of insulating properties. It has a double bed at the back that can be folded up as a lounge and a dining table at the front which can be folded down into a large single bed. It also has provisions for a single stretcher bed to go above the single bed.

In 2009 I was selected to have part of my collection of caravans featured on the ABC Collectors program. After Daisy appeared on the feature I was contacted by George from Urunga NSW who was the original builder of this caravan in 1958, George mailed me one of the original photos of the van which was also towed by an FJ ute.

We like to use our caravans and it is often used for our family holidays a couple of times a year, having travelled many a happy mile.

All of our caravans are available “for hire” on a weekly or daily basis, with some caravans being able to be repainted to suit certain requirements for filming etc. We are also available to help source caravans to suit your requirements. Contact Richard for further details on 0408 671770.
