I have been doing alot of research through the patent website lately and I have come across some very interesting information, not just relating to caravans.
So I thought I would post some of the more interesting information here.
I have not posted all of the pages on some patents as they go on and on with technical jargon.
So to kick off this post I thought I would start with the patent submitted in 1935 by John Jennison of Jennison Caravans.
A 1936 patent submitted by William Norman with a heading of "Improvements in Trailers."

Re: Caravan Patents.
Patent Application Lodged on the 5th of August 1957 by a Mr Melvin Kennedy Woods for a "Folding Caravan".
The actual patent is 5 pages long but I have only attached 2 of the 5.
It is amazing that this design is very simmilar to a Propert Folding Caravan, but this design has a canvas section where the Propert has full ply sides.
