Sunliner by Waldens Caravans.

Post by Richard »

While at Cowra a couple of weeks ago George and I met the owner of a "16 ft Sunliner" caravan that has a badge above the front and back windows with the name "Sunliner by Waldens".

With a quick look at the outside of the caravan you can tell the main difference is that it has a wide band around the middle on each side.

So other than that it looks to be just another "Sunliner" from a 16 ft Sunliner mould.

But on closer inspection this is actually a 13 ft Sunliner with about 2 ft added to the length just behind the door. It is hard to tell from the photo, but you could actually see clearly where the 2 ft had been added to the length. The first thing that alerted me to the difference was that the front didnt have the large brow over the front windows, and the back is alot squarer and doesnt slope back as much as the 16 ft Sunliner.

The owner had done some research on the van and tracked the name Waldens to yacht builders from Victoria. He didnt find much more information other than the owner had retired and moved to Queensland.

The interior is very reminiscent of a yacht interior, it also has of all things a fibreglass bath under the rear bed.

Hi Richard

This was an interesting van. I thought the owner said Walden was a company from the Sydney Northern Beaches area? A bit more research in time no doubt will clarify.

Cheers
George
